HealthKit Data
We disclose, in full, what data Feelmo exchanges with Apple's Health app (HealthKit). What it reads, what it writes, and what it does not do — trust, we believe, begins here.
Data Feelmo reads
To measure and watch over your regulation, Feelmo reads the following from HealthKit. Every item we may use is shown to you in full, in a single list at first onboarding, and requested all at once — we never come back later with a surprise extra ask. You can revoke any data type at any time.
| Data | What for |
|---|---|
| Heart rate variability (HRV / SDNN) | The core metric of the Regulation Score |
| Heart rate | As background, such as resting heart rate |
| Sleep | To read regulation mainly from heart data during sleep |
| Steps & workouts | To watch the relationship between behavior and regulation (behavior log) |
| Ambient light / daylight (where available) | To watch the relationship between sunlight and regulation (behavior log) |
About RMSSD
Feelmo emphasizes RMSSD as a parasympathetic index, computed from the heart-rate-variability data it reads. See Understanding HRV for more.
Data Feelmo writes
Feelmo writes just one thing to HealthKit.
| Data | What for |
|---|---|
| State of Mind | To keep your logged mood in the Health app's "State of Mind" as well (iOS 18 and later) |
- This write happens only when you turn the sync on in settings. It's off by default, and nothing is written
- Write permission is shown in the same upfront list as read permissions (so we never ask out of the blue later)
- The Regulation Score itself is never written back to the Health app
What Feelmo does not do
- We do not use HealthKit data for advertising or marketing
- We do not provide or sell HealthKit data to any third party, including data brokers (we comply with Apple's guidelines)
- We do not perform medical diagnosis or personal profiling with the data
Checking & changing permissions
You can check or change HealthKit permissions any time from iOS Settings.
Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Feelmo
There you can toggle read access for each data type, such as heart rate variability and sleep. No permission is needed for features you don't use.
We show everything upfront
Feelmo discloses every item it may use at first onboarding and asks for them all at once — so you're never asked out of the blue later. If you decline an item, everything except the related feature keeps working as is.
Where the data lives
The Regulation Score, emotion logs, and behavior logs computed from the data read via HealthKit are kept on your device only, as a rule, and are not sent to our servers automatically. See Data & Privacy and Apple Watch & HealthKit for more.
Not a medical device
Feelmo is not a medical device and is not intended for diagnosis or treatment. For any concerning symptom, please consult a medical professional.
