Taro Ueno (上野太郎) (the "Provider") sets out below this Privacy Policy (this "Policy") concerning the handling of user information in the iOS / watchOS application "Feelmo" (the "App") and the websites feelmo.jp and docs.feelmo.jp (together, the "Service"), provided by the Provider.
Please note that the App is currently provided by the Provider as an individual.
The Provider designs the Service and this Policy on one principle: data about your body exists to be observed — never to be bought and sold for guessing.
1. Information We Handle
1.1 Data the App keeps on your device
The following is stored only on your device and is never sent to the Provider's servers automatically:
- Mood logs — moods and notes you record in the App
- HRV-derived data — heart-rate-variability data from Apple Watch / HealthKit, and the Balance score computed from it
- Behavior tags and wellbeing records — behavior tags kept in your Heart Record, plus wellbeing records such as sleep, sunlight, and activity
The portions of the above that include HRV, sleep, heart rate, and anything derived from them are not stored in iCloud and are kept only on your device (per Apple's guidelines, the Provider does not store HealthKit-derived health information in iCloud). If you enable iCloud Sync, the only thing synced is your settings (notifications, appearance, reminders) — which contain no health data — and that takes place through your own iCloud and is not transmitted to or stored on the Provider's servers. iCloud Sync is off by default. The App embeds no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs whatsoever.
1.2 HealthKit data
- HealthKit access is requested once, during onboarding, with every data type the App may use disclosed up front (the Provider never surprises you with additional requests later); access can be revoked per data type at any time from iOS Settings
- HealthKit data is never used for advertising or marketing, and never provided or sold to any third party, including data brokers
- Only with your permission, the App may write a few things to your own Apple Health app: completed breathing sessions as Mindfulness minutes; and the water and caffeine you log by hand as Nutrition (dietaryWater / dietaryCaffeine). Your Balance score and mood are never written back. These save to your own Health data; nothing is sent to the Provider or any third party, and you can turn it off at any time in iOS Settings
- When you turn on the Apple Health State of Mind integration (opt-in, iOS 18 and later, off by default), the App can import into your Mood Log the entries recorded in Health's State of Mind. Your Balance score and mood are determined automatically from the previous night's data, and the App never writes to Health's State of Mind
1.3 On-device analysis and summaries
Your Balance score analysis and the gentle summaries of your records run entirely on your device. Neither your inputs nor the results ever leave your device. No balance data or context is sent to the Provider's servers or to any external processing infrastructure.
1.4 Websites
- Language preference — to retain your display language, the App uses your browser's local storage (not sent to the Provider's servers)
- Analytics and performance measurement — to improve the sites, cookie-free measurement tools collect statistics: page views and similar (Vercel Analytics) on feelmo.jp and docs.feelmo.jp, and page-loading performance (Vercel Speed Insights) on feelmo.jp; neither is ever used to identify individuals
1.5 Inquiries
When you contact the Provider by email or via the contact form (feelmo.jp/contact), the Provider receives your name, email address, the topic and content of your enquiry, and the information needed to respond (including your device model / OS version, and the IP address and browser information sent with the form). This is used only to respond to your enquiry and to improve the Service. Content sent through the contact form is handled — for email delivery and storage — via the processors listed in "4. Outsourcing" below.
1.6 Location (the pressure & weather heads-up feature)
Only when you turn on the pressure & weather heads-up (off by default) does the App obtain an approximate (coarse) location from your device's location services, and it uses this solely to fetch weather and air pressure through Apple's WeatherKit. This coarse location is passed only to Apple's WeatherKit; it is never sent to or stored on the Provider's servers, and is never used for advertising or marketing. You can turn it off at any time from iOS Settings or from the App's own settings.
2. Purposes of Use
The information we handle is used only for the following purposes:
- Providing, maintaining, and improving the Service
- Computing and displaying the Balance score
- Analyzing records and generating summaries (processed entirely on-device)
- Responding to inquiries
- Statistical analysis that does not identify individuals
- Fulfilling obligations under laws and the terms of use
The Provider does not use the information it handles for medical diagnosis, credit, employment, insurance underwriting, or any other automated decision that has a significant effect on the user.
3. Provision to Third Parties
The Provider does not sell your heart-rate data or any other information about your body to third parties. The Provider does not provide your information to third parties without consent, except: (1) where required by law; (2) where necessary to protect life, body, or property and consent is difficult to obtain; (3) where particularly necessary for improving public health or fostering sound child development and consent is difficult to obtain; (4) where cooperation with a public authority or the like is necessary and obtaining consent risks impeding the performance of its duties.
4. Outsourcing
The Provider may entrust all or part of the handling of information to external parties (such as website hosting and analytics, email, and other service providers) within the scope necessary to achieve the purposes of use, and exercises necessary and appropriate supervision over such contractors. The current main processors are: Vercel Inc. (with Neon for the database) for website hosting and storing contact-form submissions; Resend, Inc. for delivering contact emails; Vercel Analytics for site analytics; and Vercel Speed Insights for measuring site performance.
5. External Services and Linked Destinations
The Service uses Apple's platforms (the App Store, HealthKit, WeatherKit, etc.) and may include links to, or integration with, these and external sites. The handling of information by third-party services is governed by each third party's own privacy policy and the like. The Provider is not responsible for the content, or the handling of information, of external services or linked destinations that the Provider does not operate. Please also review the privacy policy of each such service.
6. Security
The Provider takes necessary and appropriate security measures to prevent leakage, loss, or damage of information. Data on your device is protected by the protection mechanisms of iOS and other operating systems together with your own device passcode and the like. The information the Provider holds is limited to the scope necessary to respond to inquiries (such as email), and is protected through thorough application of encryption in transit, access control, and the principle of least privilege.
7. Retention
You manage the retention period of data on your device yourself (you can delete it at any time). Inquiry information is deleted once a reasonable period has elapsed after the response is complete.
8. Your Rights
- Deletion — you can delete your data in the App at any time; deleting the App also erases on-device data
- Requests for disclosure, correction, suspension of use, and the like — with respect to information the Provider holds, you may make such requests under the Act on the Protection of Personal Information and other applicable laws by contacting the window in Article 12. For rights specific to overseas users (in the EU/EEA, the UK, California, etc.), see Article 9
9. Overseas Users, GDPR and CCPA
This Policy applies regardless of where the user is located. The Provider respects the rights granted under the laws of the user's country or region. Because the App's health-related data is processed on your device and is not transmitted to the Provider's servers, the Provider may not hold such data.
Users in the European Union (EU/EEA) and the United Kingdom: Under the GDPR and the like, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection to processing. To exercise these rights, contact the window in Article 12; after verifying your identity, the Provider will respond promptly in accordance with applicable law.
Users in California: Under the CCPA/CPRA, you have the right to know the categories of personal information collected and the purposes, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of the "sale" of personal information and the "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. The Provider does not sell users' personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise these rights, contact the window in Article 12.
10. Minors
Users under 18 should use the Service with the consent of a parent or guardian. The Provider does not knowingly collect personal information from children without parental consent.
11. Note on Medical Information
The App is not a medical device, and the data it handles and the information it displays are not a basis for medical diagnosis, treatment, or prevention. If you have any health concern, always consult a medical professional.
12. Contact and Person Responsible
Provider: Taro Ueno (上野太郎) (an individual) / Email: hello@feelmo.jp / We usually reply within 2 business days (日本語 / English).
13. Changes
The Provider may revise this Policy in response to amendments to laws or changes to the Service. For material changes, the Provider will give notice by posting on this page or by other appropriate means. A revised Policy takes effect from the time it is posted on this page.
In plain words
Without the difficult language: your records live on your device, you can take them out whenever you like, and you can erase them whenever you like. The Provider does not sell them. That is Feelmo's promise.
